Music is the food for thesoul. Music is an ancient art; it remained a big part of culture. People of different nations, race and beliefs have their own rhythm that matches their soul. Anyhow, music was a popular type of art back in the days and also nowadays. People of all ages, gender, types and cultures love music unless you are someone who does not enjoy some entertainment. The elements of music are:

Music has seen many ups and ups, no downs here. From 1950’s rock to 1960’s roots rock to 1970’s disco pop to 1980’s pop and 1990’s punk rock, music has always seen great. But before moving towards the band we should take a look at David Matthews. Matthews is a born singer. He is a South African-American born singer and songwriter. He started playing acoustic guitar at the age of nine. He is the lead vocalist, guitarist and songwriter of David Matthews Band. In addition to these, Matthews also did some acting.
History of Band
Matthews started the band in 1991 in Virginia. The band is important to Matthews. He wrote songs and composed songs for the band from 1991 to 2003. The band is a combination of guitar, sax, drums and music. RCA records signed the band in 1994. He won a Grammy Award for ‘Gravedigger’ in 2004, the song is from his album that he made solo; Some Devil. He appeared as a guest vocalist with Bela Fleck and Fleckstones in 1998. He did a cover song as a tribute to Neil young. Matthews describes the band tour as ‘a healthy combination of fear and excitement.’
Boyd Calvin Tinsley is the violinist of the Dave Matthews Band. He is a famous American violinist. He played thefirst time for the band in 1991. He played the song Tripping Billie’s for the band’s demo tape. After that, he joined the band permanently. He also played as aguest for band ‘The Getaway people’. Tinsley released his solo album in 2003. Tinsley is also mentioned in the poetry book ‘The Bridge tower’ written by Rita Dove.
Jeff Coffin is a 51 years old saxophonist and bandleader. He played for Bela Fleck and Flecktones for 14 years before joining the Dave Matthews Band in 2009. He also has a group called as Jeff Coffin and the Mu’tet. The group released their first album in 2012. The album is known as ‘Into the Air’. He first played for the album ‘Left of Cool’ of Flecktones, the last album being ‘Jingle All the Way’. He joined the Dave Matthews band in 2008 after the injury to LeRoi Moore. And soon after the death of LeRoi Moore, he joined the band and has not left yet. Coffin has his own band since 1990. He also did a solo album named as Commonality.
Stefan K Lessard is a 42 years old bassist of the DMB. He was just 16 years old when he joined the band at the time of the band formation.
Carter Anthony Beauford is the drummer of the band. He has ambidextrous and open style drumming style. He also sings backing vocals for the band. In 2010, he was included in the list ofthe greatest drummer. He first joined Secrets, a jazz fusion band. Then he was approached by Dave Matthews and joined the band.
Dave Matthews Band consists of all the above famous musicians. The band’s first public show was at TRAX. Firstly, the name of the band was decided ‘Dumwelah’. But later it got changed to what it is called today. The band started playing regularly on Tuesdays at TRAX. DMB released the following albums:
- Remember Two Things – 1993
- Recently (EP) – 1994
- Under the Table and Dreaming – 1994; this album was dedicated to Matthews’s elder sister Anne.
- Crash – 1996; this album gave them the limelight. One of the songs in the album got them the Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or a Group with Vocals.
- Live at Red Rocks 8.15.95 – 1997; it gave them the fame all across the United States. This album contained all the best songs from the above-mentioned albums and Tim Reynolds
Tim Reynolds is a multi-instrumentalist and he is a solo artist but also a vocal singer of DMB. He did a tour with Dave Matthews from the formation of the band to 1998 but he permanently joined the group in 2008. He was nominated for two Grammy Awards.

Achievements
The band has been three times nominated for American Music Awards. They have won one Grammy Award but are nominated 14 times for the Grammy’s. They are nominated six times by MTV Music Video Awards. They won My VH1 Music awards four times. And also they won 1 NAACP Image Awards.
The band has always been in and out of tours. The band did their last tour in summer 2016. Now the band has planned a tour of London starting from January.
